Open Question: Credit Questions… & Dell Preferred Account?

1. I have a car loan dated back to 10/08 that I am current on; that is the extent of my credit. I have no credit cards, etc.
2. I used to have a Verizon individual cell phone plan in ‘09 before switching to a family plan. I was unaware that there was a balance on my individual cell plan; and figured that they would forward any balance to the family plan anyway, but that did not happen. Instead, the balance (which was $27.00) was forwarded to a collection agency; and I paid the balance off the day after it was forwarded.

My questions:

Is there any way to have this “adverse account” deleted from my credit report? It was paid in full only 1 day after being sent to collection. What are my options? Will this adverse account hurt my chances of being approved for a store credit card? (See below)

Also, I have only been building credit since 10/08 with my personal loan (car). Will this line of credit, keeping in mind the above “adverse account” be OK to open a Dell Preferred Account? I am new to credit and credit building, and have heard that a credit inquiry (i.e., Dell Preferred Account) is considered a hard hit and will lower your score… so I am trying to get a feel for whether I would be approved or not.

Secondly, I am considering getting a credit card at the end of the summer to help pay for college textbooks, etc. Would this be ill-advised if I will be opening a Dell Preferred Account soon (that is, if I’m accepted)? I was thinking maybe two “hard hits” in a span of a summer would be too harsh on my current score… in which case, how long should I wait until I can apply for said credit card (with the presumption that I’m current on everything)?

Please advise :o ). Thanks very much!
I’m over 21, if that helps?

Open Question: Bad Credit Loans for Debt Consolidation?

Long Story Short, Back in 2008, I ended up paying off all of my credit debt and then ended up moving to another state to be with my girlfriend (moving to another state without another job lined up is a bad idea). After Maxing out all of my credit cards, being legally homeless for months on end and living out of a motel I finally made my way back home where my credit was destroyed. I am now trying to pick of the pieces but it has been difficult.

Tons of people always talk about how people with horrible credit can still get personal or debt consolidation loans. When when you look online all you see is spam or garbage. I’d like to get a personal loan so I can consolidate my bills and move out of my parent’s house. Does anyone know of any legit, useful places that provide a bad credit loan (not payday advances)?
All of my credit cards ended up going to collections. I am currently now making payments to those collectors. They all refused to let me make payments on my own; telling me that my word on paying wasn’t good enough and that I had to either allow automatic deductions or they’d simply garnish my wages. While I was able to get several down to 60% of the original debt, the only way they’d work with me was by setting up automatic payments. I am annoyed that I am trying to at least fix my credit and pay my debt and these people are being so frustrating.

Open Question: Are all these tests really necessary for IUI?

I’m in my early 30s and have no fertility problems that i know of (have always used condoms so I’ve never tried to get pregnant but I’ve taken ovulation tests and they are always positive on days 13-14). I am going to have IUI using a donor and at my first appointment my doctor scheduled a bunch of blood work, STD testing, physical, HSG dye test to check tubes – this especially worries me because it seems invasive to stick a tube and fluids in my tubes where nothing from the outside has touched before and all this other stuff. I don’t have insurance so all this testing alone is going to cost me thousands. I thought I’d just purchase the sperm and have him inject it at the right time. Before I cancel my appointments (I’ll have to take out a personal loan and sell my jewelery to pay for all this stuff), in your experience, is this all necessary? The ultrasound alone is going to cost $320 a pop and I’m going to need a few of them.
If I had insurance I’d say the more tests the better, but since I”m paying out of pocket and the initial quote of the procedure has more than doubled wtih all these tests added, I guess I’m trying to ask if they’re absolutely necessary. They’re all going to come up saying “healthy” is an educated guess considering all of my sisters have had 6 children the natural way without complications and my mother as well. I feel like a fool for getting all this money sucked out of and want to know from others experience if it’s necessary.
It’s not just the cost, but doing an x-ray and injecting radioactive dyes in that area seems extreme and maybe in my case done just to make money off of because it doesn’t make sense to take such a risk when no known problems exist. It’s like taking Chemo if you don’t have cancer “just in case” imo.

This is 2nd time in 10 yrs. that I may be forced to file for Chapter 7 in Los Angeles. I am senior disabled on benefits, so limited income. Last time I did it for under $200 with a paralegal. My question is where can I file for bankruptcy Chapter 7 w/limited income & a senior ? Also, because of new rules, will I get charge off for all my debts. I only have credit card debts, no personal or loans, do not own property or car, assets, etc. probably totaling no more than $25,000 or at least under $30,000. I am in Los Angeles, H’wood, California 90029-90028 zip code, thank u.

I need some advice. I have a personal loan with BOA for $44k at 14.99%.

It is the only debt that I have.

I would like to refi to a lower rate but BOA will not consider that they say becasue the loan is less than a year old. I can afford $2500 per month in an effort to pay off the debt. If I do nothing, I will pay huge interest over the next 21 months.

My question is: should I shop around with other banks (I have several accounts with BOA wth ~20K in funds combined) and offer to move my accounts for a lower rate or just try to open new CC accounts with low interest balance transfer offers. I was also thinking of moving an IRA account (worth ~$62K) to a brokerage account to see what they could do.

I would appreciate any and all advice.
