Open Question: Feeling the need to move out, but have no money?

I’m an embarrassing 30 years old, still living with my parents. I’ve got a sweet deal living at home – no rent, I get along with the folks, and I make enough money to probably live on my own with a roommate. But it’s a job in retail, and for someone with a college degree, I feel that I should be making more money. I definitely have an income problem.

The problem is that I look around and see that just about everyone my age (and younger) live on their own and are pursuing their chosen field as a career. I want to do something in entertainment/writing, but that’s a very difficult field to establish yourself in. I’ve done an internship at a Hollywood studio, so it’s not like I don’t have any experience. Right now life is stagnant for me. I’m not able to save any money for another month or two because I’m paying my parents back for $2500 worth of car repairs.

A friend of mine is on his way to L.A. to start a new job and he doesn’t have a roommate yet. He’s offered to let me share a place with him, but I have $0 to make a move. My thoughts were to possibly apply for a personal loan and hope to find some work when I get out there. I’m just sick of working at a dead-end job, not doing what I want to do, and my social life is nill because I hate having to tell people that I still live at home like I’m in high school. It’s embarrassing. Yet, I’m afraid of leaving as well. It’s like my identity is tied to my parents and being at home, and I’m afraid to step out of that box and become my own person. I guess I’m afraid of social commitments for some reason. Yet, I want to get out there and establish myself as somebody.

Anyway, I can save the cash to move, but it will be another 3-4 months, and this entire thing is really starting to bother me. I used to get panic attacks quite badly before I move out to L.A. for my internship – and then they went away. I guess because I was actually doing something I could be proud of. Now the anxiety is starting to return and I can’t help but think it’s because I feel stuck where I am and I need to do something that my family and I can be proud of again. Right now I feel inadequate and like a loser.

Open Question: I took out a cash advance and paid it off early, but they cashed my check of a paid off loan?

everything went good, I signed the loan payoff paper and got my check back. A day or two later the manager called me and told me that they had messed up and I had gotten the wrong check and if I could bring it back. I told her that I shredded it, I usually do that with my checks since they have my signature and personal information. I later found out that I got my ex-girlfriend’s check, we shared a checking account, but we haven’t been together for almost a month now and I told check-n-go to call her because it was her debt and not mine. they left me alone for the past two weeks until I looked into my checking account and saw a charge for $229.45, My ex won’t call me back and the main offices at check-n-go were useless. What I’m wondering is if I could take legal action towards check-n-go for charging my check for a paid off loan? if there is, where should I start?

My fiance is trying to get a mortgage loan for our first home because we are expecting our first baby in November. We haven’t married yet because I have horrid credit while his is not so bad. However, his score is not high enough to qualify for a loan. It is around 600 and needs to be about 680. He has a personal loan of $4000 that he has been making timely payments on as well as a car payment with the car totaling $14000. He had to get a cosigner for the car. I am unemployed but looking for work; he is a truck driver and makes around $38,000 a year. He tried to get help through a government program but they told us that the funds for that have been exhausted. His parents have their own mortgage and they are willing to help us if possible. What can we do??

We purchased a house at the beginning of the year in January and we are in the process of closing. We are scheduled to close in a few days. The prospective buyers are getting an FHA loan, meaning they only need as little as 3% down, and we are going thru turmoil with their lender. They had an appraiser come out a week ago and knocked off about $2500 from the accepted price that we the sellers and buyers agreed to, and just today their lending underwriter is asking our Realtor how much we paid for the house AND how much we invested into it. Why not just ask for our Social Security while they are at it! Is this even legal!?!?! We aren’t stupid and know exactly why they are asking, and I am livid. I am extremely close to getting out of the contract.
I feel horrible for the interested buyers, because they paid for an inspector and survey, plus the house HAD termites at one time, even before we purchased and we had that inspected, however they paid for termite inspector as well, plus their option period fee.
Is it legal what the underwriter is asking for??? Should we supply her with this information, I mean what the heck was the purpose of the lender’s appraiser when she is asking for this and more???UUHHHGGGG!!!
