Open Question: I want to take a student loan but my Dad has a poor credit record (India)?

A couple of years back we went through some pretty rough times. Had loads of credit card debt and personal loans etc. Thank god all that is cleared up now, but my dad still has a poor credit record. I wanted to take a student loan and according to the bank rules an earning parent has to be a co-borrower. My mom is a homemaker so I can’t get her to be a co-borrower.
But I really want this loan… and we are in the position to repay it all. But I need the money urgently because the course starts soon and I need to pay it up before my admission is cancelled.
What can I do to move around the situation? I really need help!! thanks
